Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS NEEDED TO QUALIFY FOR THE FFROA SCHOLARSHIP?

To be eligible to apply for the $2,000 scholarship, you must be an American citizen, age 16 or older, and currently enrolled in public or private high school, homeschool, college/university, or trade school.

In addition, you must complete the Introduction To The Constitution and Constitution 101 courses. Each course includes online lectures with a final test at the end. If you don’t do well on the test, you are able to re-take until you earn your certificate. There is also a study guide and additional readings available if you choose.

Once you receive your Certificate(s) of Completion from Hillsdale College, save the document(s) and upload them with your application.

In addition to the $2,000 scholarships, students who complete a 3rd course are also eligible for the $5,000 and $10,000 scholarships. You may choose from the following courses:

  1. The U.S. Supreme Court
  2. The Federalist Papers
  3. The Presidency and the Constitution
  4. Congress: How it Worked and Why It Doesn’t
  5. Constitution 201: The Progressive Rejection of the Founding and the Rise of Bureaucratic Despotism

Scholarships can be used to further the education of award recipients at universities, private high schools, and trade schools.

ARE THE COURSES FREE?

Yes! There is no cost to the Constitutional Study courses or Certificates of Completion.

WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO APPLY?

After course completion and receipt of the Hillsdale College Certificate of Completion, apply for a scholarship here.

WHEN IS THE APPLICATION DEADLINE?

The application deadline: January 31, 2026 at 11:59 p.m., ET.

HOW MANY TIMES CAN I APPLY?

You may apply once per semester, however you are only eligible to receive one scholarship. So, if you applied and did not win a scholarship, you are eligible to apply for the next round or any round thereafter. 

WHEN ARE SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS ANNOUNCED?

Scholarship winners will be announced approximately 60 days after each of the scholarship application deadlines.
